Designed by Hans Christian Andersen
This paper cutout is a copy of two small cuts-outs –a man and a swan. Hans Christian Andersen made these in 1867, when he was 62 years old.
It is unknown why he selected this subject, but it could very well be a self-portrait. The man has a certain resemblance to the poet himself – shown with his favourite bird the swan.
The original paper cutout belongs to the Andersen Museum in Odense, Denmark.
